Grey Crowned Cranes pair for life. Like most monogamous birds, these birds go through a very ritualized courtship dance. This ritual contains head bowing, bouncing into the air and incredible vocalizations. The calls the Grey Crowned Cranes make are in some ways similar to our own native Sand hill Cranes. Cranes in general are a symbol of long life and good luck in the orient. The Crowned Crane has two features that sets it off from its many other cousins through out the world. They are; they nest in trees and they display elaborate golden crowns. - Kim Diment
